Play Therapy

Play therapy is a therapeutic approach primarily used with children to help them express and process their emotions, thoughts, and experiences through play. Because children may have difficulty expressing themselves with words, play provides a natural and effective way for them to communicate and make sense of their world.

In play therapy, children use toys, art, games, and other creative activities to explore their feelings, work through challenges, and develop coping skills. The therapist provides a safe, supportive environment where children can feel free to express themselves without judgment. This approach helps children build emotional resilience, improve problem-solving skills, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves.

Play therapy can be especially helpful for children dealing with trauma, anxiety, behavioral issues, or major life changes. It allows them to process difficult experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable, ultimately promoting healing and growth.

Play therapy is offered for children ages 4-11. As children approach 11, we gradually transition to more collaborative therapy, with less emphasis on play. Parent support is provided as needed throughout the process.
